Type the text you want — "CONFIDENTIAL", "DRAFT", your company name — and we stamp it diagonally across every page of your PDF in a light gray, semi-transparent style that doesn’t block the original content underneath. Useful for marking drafts before you share them, labeling confidential documents, or branding a PDF before it goes out.

This is processed entirely in your browser using pdf-lib, a PDF-editing library that runs as WebAssembly-adjacent JavaScript — your file never gets uploaded anywhere. Pick a PDF, type your text, and download the watermarked copy in seconds.

Frequently asked questions

Can I control the watermark’s position, size, or color?

This tool uses one fixed style tuned to work well on any page: a diagonal, semi-transparent gray watermark repeated across the page. There are no extra settings to fiddle with — type your text and go.

Does this work on password-protected PDFs?

No. Remove the password first with our Unlock PDF tool, then add the watermark.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The watermark is drawn entirely in your browser using pdf-lib — your file is never uploaded. Works on files up to 50MB and 300 pages on desktop (25MB / 150 pages on mobile).

Do I need an account to use this?

No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no email required — every tool on PDF Hater is completely free. Open the page, drop your file, download the result. That’s the whole flow.
